First we must tell you the calories come from the food we eat, thanks to them we can perform daily activities, so it is necessary to know how many need to feel good and to avoid not overdo the intake and become part of our cartridge or tummy.
When we eat what we are doing is to acquire energy and thus give the body the nutrients needed for the construction and maintenance of the body.
They balance carbohydrates, proteins and fats that we provide the necessary energy. So we can stay healthy and do not overdo the weight we know what we need for our daily lives so we can spend those calories.
Carbohydrates must be between 50% -60% of the calorie intake. Without the intake of vegetables, fruits and vegetables would not receive the amount of minerals and vitamins we need. Fats, on the other hand, should not exceed 30% -35% protein and plant and animal origin should represent 15-20%%.
The amount of calories you need depends on the caloric needs mandatory and others that depend on lifestyle and physical activity we undertake. For example, an adult male should consume between 2,000 and 2,500 kilocalories and 1500-2000 in the case of a woman who later take moderate physical activity. These amounts are recommended from the World Health Organization (WHO).
As we age the amount of calories decreases. For example, a 65 year old man with moderate physical activity needed between 1900 and 2100 calories daily and a woman of the same age between 1500 and 1700.
If we are people with a sedentary lifestyle also the body need energy to stay alive. This is called basal energy expenditure. Keep in mind that some organs like the heart, liver, kidneys and brain spend about 60% of the expenditure of the whole organism, to which must be added what is needed for tissue formation. The amount is raised in the case of pregnancy and lactation.
Always remember that calorie requirements vary with each individual, based on parameters such as age, weight, height, sex, race, constitution, temperament, lifestyle and physical activity, etc..
