What is a healthy diet?

Food is the process by which we take a series of foreign substances that are necessary for nutrition. These substances are found in foods that are part of our diet.

Nutrition is the set of processes by which a person ingests, absorbs, transforms and uses substances.

There is evidence that food and health go hand in hand, because a proper diet helps to promote health and prevent disease. There are many studies linking diet and chronic diseases (cardiovascular, obesity, diabetes mellitus, etc). Showing that improper diet is one of the main determinants of the development of these diseases.

The type of food we eat and their amount, have enormous influence on our health. Unfortunately, it is very easy to eat poorly if a diet containing too many wrong foods, for example, fast food rich in fat, and low amounts of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables chosen.

What is a healthy diet?

According to most dieters, there are not “bad” but diet “unhealthy” foods. A healthy diet is achieved by eating the right amount of food in the right proportions with continuity.

Eating a proper proportion of foods from the main groups forms the basis of daily well-being, and reduce the risk of long term diseases.

Controlling portion size so that, over time (or better, day to day), the amount of energy consumed corresponds to our level of activity.
Seek to increase physical activity. The activity helps regulate appetite and allows you to eat more without gaining weight.
Drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day.
