The pineapple is reputed to be a diuretic and cleansing fruit that helps to eliminate toxins through urine accumulating our body and also prevents constipation due to the large amount of fiber it provides. Activate the metabolism and elimination of fat, increase the digestibility. It is one of the healthiest fruits of nature.
Pineapple is rich in vitamins C, B1, B6, folic acid (a B vitamin that is essential for life) and minerals such as potassium. Pineapple is mostly water and contains little fat and is very low in calories. It contains an enzyme called bromelain ( bromelain breaks proteins in the same way as pepsin, an enzyme that is part of the gastric juice ), so you can tell which improves digestion and destroys intestinal parasites.
What is bromelain from pineapple ?
As already mentioned, bromelain is a digestive enzyme that is extracted from the stem and fruit raw pineapple (Ananas comosus, family Bromeliaceae ) and containing sulfur. Also sold as a compound to soften the meat. Bromelain contains (among other components) of several proteinase enzymes that have been demonstrated both in the laboratory and in animal studies and humans, their anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic, anti-edema ( which prevent edema) and fibrinolytic ( clot that break ).
It has been found that bromelain is effective in anti-inflammatory agent in the reduction of diseases involving inflammation such as swelling, acute sinusitis, sore throat, arthritis or gout.
Bromelain is a natural blood thinner and there is also evidence that bromelain can trigger beneficial changes in white blood cells, thus improving immune function.
Bromelain contains powerful anti -inflammatory properties, so it is a good help in healing of minor cases, such as muscle strain or sprain injuries. In the results of a study evidence that may be helpful in cases of rheumatoid arthritis were found. There is also evidence that bromelain has anti cancer properties ( although this has not been tested ). There are several recent studies that have linked chronic inflammation to cancer, therefore, any action against the cancer of bromelain may be due to its anti inflammatory properties.
Pineapple is rich in antioxidants
Pineapple is an excellent source of vitamin C, iodine, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium, useful for thyroid and nerve cells. Vitamin C provides the body with protection against free radicals (substances that attack healthy cells ). The accumulation of free radicals may be responsible for causing atherosclerosis and heart disease or diabetes. Also asthma attacks, risk of certain cancers (such as colon cancer, etc.). Free radicals have also been shown to be the cause of problems associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Vitamin C is the most important soluble antioxidant that the body uses water in their daily struggle against the aggressions of malignant microorganisms, and help in the use of iron and calcium. Of course, it is also what better combat the common cold, flu and all the diseases that come as a result of the cold. Strengthens the immune system.
manganese
Pineapple is also an excellent source of manganese, an essential for energy production of some enzymes mineral. It also has large amounts of thiamine (vitamin B1 ), also very important for these enzymes that produce energy.
Pineapple also provides iron, sulfur and potassium, which favor the activity of sex hormones and help generate enzymes.
macular degeneration
Pineapple is one of the most important in maintaining good eye health fruits. It is proven to help in cases of eye problems caused by aging such as macular degeneration. Three pieces of fruit a day rich in antioxidants lower the potential risk of this debilitating disease.
