The health of men: a major challenge

Although the gap in life expectancy between men and women continues to decline, it is no secret that men need to be more careful about their health.

In addition to live less than women (on average about four years ), men tend to smoke more and drink more than them, putting them at greater risk of disease.

On the other hand, there are conditions that affect only the male sector, the main prostate cancer. This disease causes more than 250,000 deaths each year worldwide, and its incidence is increasing.

To this we must add that men are the main victims of suicide and violent deaths ( despite this, there is no campaign help with this ).

This year, the International Men’s Day is special, as it focuses on men’s health. In fact, their motto is : “Helping young men and have a long life, happier and healthier.”

In response, WHO calls on all countries of the world to improve the impact on men’s health, from prevention messages and other initiatives.
