The fish has become one of the most recommended foods in most diets. This is no coincidence, as it is one of the most complete and healthy out there, mainly because of its low fat, good protein quality, vitamins and minerals, and provide few calories.
Fish is generally very low in fat, and those that have are of very good quality, in fact this is the first natural source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
Possibly we have ever heard of Omega-3, but do we really know why it is so beneficial to our health? Some of these are that it reduces the formation of blood clots, which are associated with cardiovascular disease and stroke as well as triglycerides. Consumption also reduces levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol and raises “good” HDL and helps maintain normal blood pressure, increasing the elasticity of the arteries. All fish in general provide minerals like iron, calcium, iodine and zinc. Iron prevents anemia, zinc favors the growth, calcium is essential for growth and formation of bones and prevents iodine goiter.
As for the vitamins B complex possesses that are essential for the functioning of the nervous system, vitamin A, which serves for the growth and maintain healthy skin and eye, as well as vitamin D which promotes calcium utilization .
We could list a huge list of benefits of this food. However, if the consumption by the population, not increase to at least two to three servings of fish a week, hardly able to take advantage of all these benefits.
